As important as the disinfection and disinfestation of our business premises and home is, just as important is the use of safe preparations that are non-toxic and have no harmful effects on humans. In this case we refer to ecological disinfection. Even our chemicals used to repel and eventually remove bugs, insects and rodents are top quality, completely harmless even to vulnerable groups (infants, the elderly, pregnant women). When the problem is limited, you can do some actions yourself that will temporarily relieve your problem and which will not disturb the ecosystem, before contacting a special disinfection workshop. The technique most commonly used in ecological disinfection to repel insects is the use of high temperatures (heat treatment). Special machines that produce heat (45-50οC) are used. These temperatures kill all insects at every stage of their lives. This technique is preferred in large food warehouses, in factories for their processing and for the control of smallpox. Modified Atmosphere Methods are also applied in the above-mentioned areas (factories, warehouses). With the introduction of inert gas, such as nitrogen (N2) or carbon dioxide (CO2), oxygen (O2) is minimized in space and we have an effective disinfestation. Another method used mainly in homes is the use of dry ice. With special devices of carbon dioxide (CO2) or nitrogen (N2) we achieve very low temperatures, suitable for the fight against bed bugs, fleas and mites. An easy solution to avoid spraying is to place a screen on the windows on the balcony doors and doors so that the most common passages from which rodents and insects enter are blocked. We can also put plugs in the sinks and the bathtub. Many plants, flowers, herbs and aromatics act as insect repellents. (sage, oleanders, geraniums, eucalyptus, basil, mint, lavender, citrus, etc.) In houses with gardens and in apartment buildings with uncovered areas, it is very important to plant them as a means of ecological disinfestation.
